Friendship

A good friendship can pop up in the craziest of places. When I met my best friend Robert, I couldn’t stand the dude. I thought that he was an arrogant, annoying chump. Me and his sister were good friends, but I had a strong dislike for him. He had this attitude about him that irked me for some reason. I spent a lot of time making fun of him; behind his back and in his face. It started to get a little bad. Actually it got to a boiling point one day when a lot of people started making fun of him, especially my oldest sister. She just went off on him, telling him that no one liked him (which most of us didn’t) and other things. At that time I realized how cruel I had been. He was almost in tears before it ended. I thought about it and gave him a call that night. I apologized for my sister and told him that I was sorry for the way that I had treated him. I told him that we should get to know each other better and since then we have been great friends.

I enjoy telling this story a lot. I don’t think that he cares for it that much, but it reminds me that we should give everyone a chance. I am glad that people gave me a chance. People have tried to pigeonhole me, but after awhile they get to know me and realize that I am more than I seem. I have a wonderful group of friends that come from many different walks of life. Each of these friends are special to me. I love them all and I am happy that we gave each other a chance.
